INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAYHI RAJIOON
"To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return". (Al-Baqarah 2:156)
It is with sadness that we share the news of the demise of
MARHOOM AGHA AFSAR ABBAS
of Woodbridge, New Jersey in Karachi, Pakistan on Thursday March, 4th 2010.
Marhoom was the Director of Muslim Foundation Inc
and the Constuction Manager of Masjid-e-Ali(as).
Agha was instrumental in the designing and the construction of Masjid-e-Ali (as). He was totally dedicated in the construction of the Masjid and could be seen there everyday working with the contractors and the sub contractors. When he was not at the construction site he could be found at the Township dealing with the inspectors, or the attorneys offices pondering over the contracts or at the bank dealing with the finances for the construction.
The loss of Agha will not only be felt by his family but will be greatly felt by his "family" at Masjid-e-Ali (as). He left before he could show us the final the picture of the Masjid, but in his mind in heaven he has the final vision of the Masjid; the community will have to wait to see that vision. The "family at Masjid-e-Ali(as)" will now have to pick up from where Agha left and this no doubt will be a monumental task. When this task is completed, and worshipers who offer prayers, and who recite the Qur'an in the Masjid will always remember and pray for Agha.
He spent the last few years of his life constructing a House of Allah and no doubt Allah has a noble place ready for our beloved Agha in Heaven.
Mo'mineen are requested to recite Sura-e-Fateha.
Namaz-e-Janaza for the Marhoom
will take place at Masjid-e-Ali (as)
on Sunday March 7th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.

Ya Sakina (AS) Breath of Life Appeal |
‘The generous person is close to Allah, close to people and close to Paradise.’ - The Holy Prophet (S)
In 2009, over 3,000 children in Iraq died from complications caused by the lack of treatment for asthma. What is disturbing is that these deaths could have been prevented.
NASIMCO is appealing to all brothers and sisters around North America to help a child in Iraq breathe by making a donation so that we can provide the much needed nebulizers to these little asthma patients. Most of those who died last year could have been saved if only they had this lifesaving equipment.
The World Federation in partnership with Imamia Medics International (UK) and the Al-Hakim Foundation has launched the YA SAKINA (AS) BREATH OF LIFE APPEAL to raise funds to purchase 1,000 nebulizers for the children of Iraq. This drive is launched in the name of Bibi Sakina (AS), who gave her every breath for the love of Islam. NASIMCO is supporting this fundraising effort for North America.
To donate please click Masjid-e-Ali (as) - Ya Sakina (as) Breath of Life Appeal. All the funds collected will be sent to NASIMCO. |

Port-au-Prince, Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund |

Haiti Relief Update
There are about twenty Shia families living in Haiti who have been affected by the earthquake and are now homeless. In total, there are about 100 to 150 Shia Muslims in Port au Prince, the capital of Haiti and Leogane. The Shia Al-Mahdi Centre, which has a school of 200 resident and non-resident children, a small masjid and a small library and is located on the southern side of Port au Prince, has been destroyed. Seven children have died.
Brother Shu’ayb is the founder of this center and has been working to provide shelter, food, clothing and education to the children in Haiti since 2000. Brother Shu’ayb has identified medium and long-term needs of the community in Haiti and is involved in the coordination of efforts with the World Federation, NASIMCO and the South Florida Muslim Relief Committee. The Western World has unleashed a massive multibillion dollar immediate relief effort. Our funds and help will be most needed when the World forgets them. Please donate generously.
Please send your checks to Masjid-e-Ali (as) for Haiti Earthquake or make the donations directly by clicking Masjid-e-Ali (as) - Haiti Earthquake Relief. All the funds collected will be sent to NASIMCO.
‘The generous person is close to Allah, close to people and close to Paradise.’ - The Holy Prophet (S)
NASIMCO with World Federation are launching the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund. Haiti is living a great humanitarian crisis and The World Federation is appealing to all Shia Muslim communities around the world to donate generously.
The World Federation is working on proposals which focus its relief efforts in Haiti on the medium to long term aid. Immediate assistance for basic provisions such as food, water, clothing and shelter is already being provided by many Governmental and charitable organizations. Once these proposals are finalized, WF will share them with the rest of the community through our newswire and website.
We are is deeply distraught and concerned about the devastation and loss of lives as a result of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake. In this month of Muharram in which Imam Husayn (AS), sacrificed everything he had to champion the rights of humanity, let us unite to bring respite to the people of Haiti. |
